A forensic pathologist suggested that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein did not commit suicide in a 60 Minutes expose.
In its Sunday episode, 60 Minutes reviewed hundreds of photos during the investigation into Epstein’s death, and medical examiner Dr. Michael Baden confirmed that none of the new photos released include a picture of Epstein’s body in the cell.
“Is there a photograph of when he was found dead in the cell?” asked Alfonsi.
“No, there’s no photograph taken of Mr. Epstein in the cell,” responded Baden.
The forensic images released show pill bottles, a mattress, and bedsheets fashioned into a noose in the sparse cell where Epstein, who was 66, died of an apparent suicide in August.
“Do you think there was foul play here?” asked Alfonsi.
“The forensic evidence released so far, including the autopsy, point much more to murder and strangulation than the suicide and suicidal hanging,” said Baden. “I hesitate the make a final opinion until all the evidence is in. Our job is to find out what the truth is.”
Baden, the former medical examiner for New York City, is being paid by Epstein’s brother to investigate the case and has a history of making controversial judgments in reviewing high-profile cases, such as those of O.J. Simpson and Phil Spector.
Epstein’s connections to powerful politicians and royalty, including Prince Andrew and former President Bill Clinton, has fueled speculation that the late-financier did not commit suicide. Epstein died just after being taken off 24-hour surveillance, and cameras outside his cell malfunctioned the night of his death.
