The Anne Arundel County Economic Development Corporation is encouraging residents to buy their produce at county farmers? markets to help promote local farmers.
The Buy Local Challenge, an idea first developed in southern Maryland, will be highlighted by two events at county farmers markets ? a chef demonstration at the South River Colony market and a customer appreciation day at the Severna Park Farmers? Market.
The South River Colony event will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. today and the Severna Park event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
The AAEDC also has information on farmers markets, recipes and shopping tips on its Web site.
