GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — Campbell County commissioners have signed off on a $1.7 million deal to keep SkyWest Airlines flying between Gillette, Wyo., and Salt Lake City.
In the last fiscal year, about $1.5 million was made available to SkyWest to subsidize its service between the cities, with Wyoming providing about 65 percent of that amount. This year, the county will provide about $579,000, with the state providing about $1.1 million.

The Gillette News Record reports (http://bit.ly/TIQezs) the subsidy helps to ensure SkyWest will have a 5 percent profit margin after expenses for its flights between Campbell County and Utah.
SkyWest averages 15 to 16 passengers on its 30-seat Brasilia aircraft. If more passengers buy tickets, the county and the state could end up paying less on the subsidy.
