You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch, but you’ll be allowed in Baltimore and the Enoch Pratt Free Library this November.
As part of the Pratt’s Children’s Book Celebration theme of “Books Come Alive,” all of the library’s branches will be giving away free tickets to “How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical” at the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore.
Patrons can enter to win a family package of four tickets from Nov. 1 through Nov. 8. Winning families will enjoy a performance of the musical on either Nov. 21 or Nov. 23.
“During these tough economic times, we understand not all families can afford a night out at the theater,” Carla Hayden, chief executive officer of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, said in a statement. “So tickets to this heart-warming classic is our early holiday present to Baltimore.”
The Grinch himself is also making a special appearance at the Pratt’s Northwood Branch in Baltimore on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m.
“The Grinch is such a great character who really grows by the end of the story,” Ellen Riordan, Pratt’s children services coordinator, said in a statement. “He gains greater understanding and empathy for others. That’s what we hope all great stories do for those who read them.”
“How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” published in 1957, is still one of the best-known children’s books by Dr. Seuss.
