Britney Spears vows not to perform again while father oversees conservatorship

.

Britney Spears tore into her father and sister on social media over the weekend, vowing not to perform onstage again until she has full control of her life and finances.

Spears took to Instagram to rant about her family just days after her new attorney, Mathew Rosengart, was approved by the court to represent her in the legal battle over her conservatorship. The 39-year-old pop singer, who has recently become more vocal against conservatorship, vowed not to “put on heavy makeup and try try try on stage again,” adding that she “quit” until the arrangement ends.

“For those of you who choose to criticize my dancing videos … look I’m not gonna be performing on any stages anytime soon with my dad handling what I wear, say, do, or think !!!!” Spears said in the post. “I’ve done that for the past 13 years … I’d much rather share videos YES from my living room instead of onstage in Vegas where some people were so far gone they couldn’t even shake my hand and I ended up getting a contact high from weed all the time … which I didn’t mind but it would have been nice to be able to go to the mother f***ing spa !!!!”

The social media post came a month after Spears gave fiery testimony about the “abusive” conservatorship her father, Jamie Spears, has overseen since 2008. Conservatorships are typically used to protect individuals who are severely mentally incapacitated, but Spears has argued the arrangement has been used to force her to perform for the benefit of others.

“I’m not here to be anyone’s slave,” she said during last month’s testimony. “I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy. It’s a lie. I thought that maybe if I said it enough, I would maybe become happy because I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock.”

Rosengart announced his intention on Wednesday to file a motion soon to remove Jamie as Spears’s conservator in the near future.

The pop singer’s ordeal has spawned the viral “#FreeBritney” movement, which has even inspired some bipartisan support for Spears from lawmakers in Washington.

Spears continued to blast the conservatorship in her Instagram post, saying the arrangement “killed her dreams” and that members of her family had “hurt me deeply.”

“I don’t like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed MY SONGS to remixes !!!!!” she said of her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears. “My so-called support system hurt me deeply !!!! This conservatorship killed my dreams … so all I have is hope and hope is the only thing in this world that is very hard to kill … yet people still try !!!! I didn’t like the way the documentaries bring up humiliating moments from the past … I’m way past all that and have been for a long time !!!!”

The rant came just one day after a similar Instagram post in which she slammed people who have not supported her over the years.

“There’s nothing worse than when the people closest to you who never showed up for you post things in regard to your situation whatever it may be and speak righteously for support,” Spears said in the Friday post. “There’s nothing worse than that !!!!”
