California Democratic congressman tells McConnell to 'f--- off'

Rep. Harley Rouda told Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to "f--- off."

The California Democrat's Tuesday message came in response to the Kentucky Republican senator's tweet criticizing Democratic leaders over stalled talks related to coronavirus relief package legislation.

"I hoped this week we’d be finalizing major legislation. After all, American families are struggling and need help. But Speaker Pelosi and Leader Schumer decided not to deliver. I am glad the president stepped in to soften the blow of their hostage tactics," McConnell tweeted.

Rouda responded with an animated GIF of a Google search engine screen that wrote out, "How do you tell someone politely to f--- off?"

The National Republican Congressional Committee responded to Rouda and told its Twitter followers, "You can politely tell @HarleyRouda to f*** off" by donating to Rouda's Republican opponent Michelle Steel.

"While Harley Rouda just left for a monthlong vacation accomplishing nothing for his constituents, Michelle Steel will continue doing her job as OC Board chairwoman — working to protect Orange County families and fighting for lower taxes," Lance Trover, Steel's campaign spokesperson, told the Washington Examiner.

Rouda, a first-term member of Congress, represents California's 48th Congressional District and is facing off against Steel, an Orange County supervisor, this November. He is known for his Twitter outbursts and previously attacked Steel for wearing a mask while conducting official business for the county back in April.
