Emails: Clinton helped Wall Street exec get job in Obama administration

Newly-released emails from Hillary Clinton’s time as secretary of state indicate the Democratic presidential front-runner helped a Wall Street executive nab a top spot at the Department of Treasury at the outset of the Obama administration.

Steven Rattner, an alum of Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers, sent Clinton a personal email in February 2009 thanking her for her hand in securing the position.

“Thanks for all your support and offers of help while I was working through this,” Rattner wrote after detailing the advisory role he would play for then-Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

The email, which was included among a batch of documents made public by Judicial Watch Thursday, is one of several that were sent before March 2009. Clinton’s attorney has previously said the former secretary of state was unable to locate any records from her first two months at the State Department, when Clinton claims her private server was not yet operational.

Rattner has served as a fundraiser and vocal ally for Clinton during her presidential campaign despite his candidate’s anti-Wall Street rhetoric.

He regularly appears on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program as an economic analyst.
