The ringleader in the so-called “Wig Lady” scheme pleaded guilty to bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Charles Belim, aka Ronald Lampkin, faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

Belim, 58, of Capitol Heights, admitted to heading a group of pick pocketers who stole credit cards, driver’s licenses and Social Security cards to create fake documents. The group then used wigs, glasses and other accessories to impersonate the victims and withdraw money from their accounts at bank branches in the Maryland suburbs.
