P.G. officer charged in domestic assault case

A Prince George’s County police officer has been charged with domestic assault and violating a protective order placed against him by his wife.

Anthony E. Thompson, 42, of Woodbridge, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery after a fight with his 30-year-old wife on Thursday evening, Prince William County police said. He was released on bond.

At about 4 a.m. Friday, the woman reported to police that Thompson violated the protective order that prohibited contact between the two.

Thompson was arrested again and is being held on $2,000 secured bond, police said.

A Prince George’s County police spokesman said Thompson has been placed on leave pending an investigation.
