Authorities in Germany managed to nab a fugitive with help from some unusual allies: A swarm of angry wasps.
Police in Oldenburg said Monday that they were attempting to arrest a 32-year-old man, who has yet to be named, when the man suddenly made a run for it, the Associated Press reported. The man leapt from a balcony and landed right into another sort of sting operation; a nest full of wasps.
The angry swarm began attacking the suspect causing him to run into the street, but when officers gave chase they too fell victim to the insect’s wrath. Despite the friendly fire, the wasps continued to exact their revenge upon the fleeing man.
The suspect was overcome by the wasps and dove into an inflatable pool, allowing police to finally apprehend the man, who is set to serve an outstanding 11-month custodial sentence.
