Greg Jacob, who helped Pence form a legal response to then-President Donald Trump’s pressure tactics on Pence not to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election, will testify about his experience during the events of Jan. 6. His testimony includes an admonition of challenges by Democrats to manipulate election outcomes, disparaging the practice no matter from which side of the aisle it comes.

“I respectfully suggest that Congress should with humility study and acknowledge how it has fulfilled its constitutionally prescribed role over the past 20 years,” Jacob’s statement reads. “Memories of the 2020 election are fresh, but history records that in the four of the last six presidential elections — the majority of the presidential elections in the last two decades — efforts were made in Congress to reverse election outcomes.”

He goes on to name an instance that takes aim at Jan. 6 Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who objected along with 30 other House Democrats to certifying Ohio’s votes after the 2004 election, when Republican President George W. Bush was reelected.
