Mayor Greg Fischer, a Democrat, was at Fourth Street Live, an entertainment and shopping complex in downtown Louisville, when a male approached and punched him. The suspect was able to get away, and a manhunt is underway.

Fischer spokeswoman Jessica Wethington said in a statement that the mayor “is doing fine.” Authorities did not go into further detail about the incident.

The Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating the assault and released photos of the suspect via Twitter.
