Montana governor Steve Bullock to announce 2020 presidential bid

The Democratic Party is about to get its 21st candidate vying for the chance to face President Trump in the 2020 race for the White House.

Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, 53, will announced his bid for the White House in two weeks, according to MTN News .

The 53-year-old, who has served for two terms as governor, cannot run for reelection due to term limits. In 2016, the Democrat won reelection against Greg Gianforte, who later went on to win a special election for a House seat. Bullock beat Gianforte by less than four points, the same year President Trump carried the state by 20 points against Hillary Clinton.

Bullock formed Big Sky Values PAC in mid-2017 and has since hired staff in Iowa, the first caucus state.

He has made several trips to Iowa in recent months and said he would wait until after Montana’s legislative ended in April to make an announcement about his presidential aspirations.

There are already 20 Democrats who have announced their candidacies. According to the RealClearPolitics polling average , Joe Biden leads the field with 33%, followed by Bernie Sanders on 19%, Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg on 8%, Kamala Harris on 7%, and Beto O'Rourke on 6%.
