The 81-year-old drummer was originally slated to receive the honor, a doctorate in music, at the school’s May commencement, according to a report.

However, Sir Richard Starkey, professionally known as Ringo Starr, could not make the ceremony and addressed the class of 2022 with a pre-recorded virtual statement.

Starr’s Thursday appearance at the special ceremony came as a result of his All Starr Band being in Boston for a gig.

The Beatle was honored for his lifelong contributions to music.

Several of Starr’s hits were performed by university students, and the music legend opened up about how he fell in love with drumming at 13 when he was ill and in the hospital.

“I just wanted to be a drummer from that moment on,” he said. “It was my big dream, and it’s still unfolding. I get to play with great guys, like the band here. It’s just a great life I lead.”
