Top Gun: Maverick is Tom Cruise’s top-grossing film domestically as it approaches $300 million in total earnings with a record-setting second box office weekend.
The sequel garnered $25 million Friday, bringing earnings to $230 million.
Maverick is expected to tally $85 million by the weekend’s end for a total of $290 million in domestic earnings — good enough for the smallest decline ever among movies that earned $100 million in their opening weekend.
