Former President Donald Trump called Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony before the Jan. 6 committee “crazy.”
“Is something wrong with her?” Trump asked Newsmax Thursday, denying her claims. “Is something wrong? She said I jumped from a car and I started strangling, think of this, I started strangling a Secret Service agent, who I know very well. I grabbed a steering wheel of a car, said I wanted guns at my rally. I didn’t want guns. I have to speak, too.”
The onetime aide to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows is not backing down from her testimony, which included several explosive allegations, including a story she heard from a top Secret Service official that Trump attempted to grab the steering wheel of the presidential limousine and reached for the neck of his head of security when told they could not drive to the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after his speech on the Ellipse.
“In fact, the Secret Service came out and said that this story is totally false,” Trump said. “The woman is living in fantasy land. She’s a social climber.”
CASSIDY HUTCHINSON DID NOT DO HER JOB
Trump blasted the lack of integrity of the Jan. 6 committee hearings, saying there should have been cross-examination and confirmation of facts with the Secret Service.
“These are great people,” Trump said of the Secret Service. “I think they were very embarrassed by it because it makes them sound terrible.”
“It was very nice that they came to my defense,” Trump said. “I thought it was incredible, actually, because, you know, some whack job can say this stuff and get away with it.”

The Secret Service put out a statement saying it has “been cooperating fully with the select committee since its inception in spring of 2021 and we will continue to do so by responding formally and on the record to the committee regarding new allegations that surfaced in today’s testimony.”
An aide on the Jan. 6 committee reportedly said the panel “found Ms. Hutchinson’s testimony to be credible. The committee welcomes anyone who wishes to provide additional information under oath.”
