Hot sales of Ron DeSantis’s book, signed versions hit $275

Sales of the new 2024-themed autobiography from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are hot just a day after The Courage to Be Free was released.

The 260-page book that makes the case for Republicans to use the Republican’s 2022 reelection as a national model debuted as the top bestseller on Amazon and has been No.1 in book sales since Sunday night.

Other major sellers, such as Barnes and Noble and Walmart, also list his book as a bestseller, assuring it of becoming a national hit.

While official sales numbers will not be available for a week, industry insiders said that the public’s appetite for the book is driving big numbers. Some expect it to be the biggest sales debut of any recent politician.

“It’s selling extremely well,” said one longtime industry source who handles political books.

His editor, Eric Nelson, tweeted, “Ron DeSantis’s book may have the biggest first week of sales for any book by a sitting politician or presidential hopeful. It’s going to be bigger than the first week of sales for Ben Carson, Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and maybe even Barack Obama.”

As evidence of the demand, an online reseller is getting $274.99 for signed and boxed first editions of the book. Publisher HarperCollins made the boxed set available online for $75 but it sold out fast. They are already appearing on eBay for $273.99.
