Gays ignore Trump outreach, 72% back Hillary

Despite Donald Trump’s embrace of the LGBTQ community at his Republican National Convention and credit for being the “most pro-LGBT nominee in GOP history,” gays and lesbians are voting for Hillary Rodham Clinton, according to a new survey.

Among the voters, Clinton is up 72 percent to Trump’s 13 percent, according to Pew Research Center.

What’s more, gays and lesbians view Trump very coldly.

“Nearly nine-in-ten LGB voters (89%) rate the Republican presidential nominee coldly on a ‘feeling thermometer’ that ranges from 0 (the coldest, most negative rating) to 100 (the warmest, most positive score). About eight-in-ten (82%) rate Trump very coldly, including more than half (54%) who give him a score of 0. Just 9% of LGB voters rate Trump warmly,” said Pew.

“By contrast, Hillary Clinton is viewed generally positively: 61% of LGB voters rate her warmly, including 36% who view her very warmly. About three-in-ten (31%) give her a cold rating, including 24% who have a very cold view of the Democratic nominee,” added the newly-released survey.

The Log Cabin Republicans recently called Trump “perhaps the most pro-LGBT presidential nominee in the history of the Republican Party.” However, they withheld their endorsement.

Trump made history at the summer GOP convention by talking about the LGBTQ community and featuring a gay speaker.

But it was all for nothing, it seems, as the community is still giving him the cold shoulder and acting like other liberal minority groups.

Said Pew, “LGB voters’ Democratic leanings are also on par with recent years. About eight-in-ten LGB registered voters (82%) now identify with or lean to the Democratic Party, while 18% identify with or lean to the GOP. This party balance is similar to patterns seen in a 2013 Pew Research Center survey of LGBT adults in which 79% of LGBT adults identified or leaned Democratic and 18% identified or leaned Republican.”
