RNC joins with NRA in warning of Obama gun grab

In a national fundraising email, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus put Second Amendment advocates on notice that the president already has the support of over 100,000 liberals on a pro-gun control petition.

“According to the White House, too many Americans own guns,” said the email. “We desperately need your help. Democrats are rallying in masses, echoing Obama’s call for gun-control legislation: ‘we need to take action, and we need it immediately,'” it added.

Obama is reportedly planning to issue an executive order that would broaden background checks and possibly more despite a lack of interest in Congress. He recently told GQ Magazine that he hoped to make gun control the dominant issue of his last year in office.

The GOP email is an aggressive plea to gun rights supporters and echoes many others from the NRA.

The RNC’s piggybacking on the NRA issues is a good move, considering a recent Rasmussen Reports Poll found that 61 percent agree with the statement, “The NRA supports gun policies that make all Americans safer.” That includes 35 percent who “strongly agree.”

The NRA told Secrets that the RNC email shows the power of the issue and the NRA.

“This truly is a testament to the strength of the issue and people’s trust in the National Rifle Association,” said spokesman Andrew Arulanandam.

Pending Executive Order on Gun Control
