Election Day 2020 is over a year away but the fight over re-electing President Trump is getting personal.
The latest evidence: Longtime Democratic consultant and Bill and Hillary Clinton confidant James Carville is highlighting Trump’s color.
In a fundraising memo for American Bridge 21st Century PAC, he took the shot while warning of the Republicans gaining back the House.
“Our new Democratic majority is getting under his skin and holding his feet to the fire,” he wrote.
“That’s why Trump is lining up right-wing candidates across the country to challenge Democrats. He DESPERATELY wants Congress back under his Cheetos-stained fingers so he can continue to grift the American people, and it’s up to us to stop him,” he added.
Trump’s coloring has often been mocked by critics. It once even prompted a #CheetoJesus on Twitter.
American Bridge spokesman Andrew Bates added, “It’s a reference to his orange skin, on account of the hideous spray tan the President of the United States spends God knows how long slathering onto himself. Not sure how anyone could miss that. We wanted to grab people’s attention to ensure they know that if Republicans have their way, they’ll cost millions their healthcare and further rig the economy for the richest Americans.”
