The campaign by critics of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s bid to hide nursing home COVID-19 deaths as he basked in media praise for his virus efforts is kicking into a higher gear today with a new video call for him to go.
The conservative Washington-based Committee to Unleash Prosperity posted a video detailing the alleged failures of Cuomo’s virus efforts juxtaposed with his bragging book and Emmy for holding daily coronavirus briefings.

“Andrew Cuomo claims he protected nursing homes. It didn’t work. Cuomo lied,” said the video shown to Secrets. “Seniors died in darkness while Cuomo took the spotlight,” it said, adding, “Cuomo lied. Seniors died.”
Committee member Phil Kerpen, also the president of American Commitment, a policy think tank, has been doggedly following the virus statistics and said Cuomo deserves special criticism.
“Gov. Cuomo forced highly infectious patients into nursing homes despite widespread warnings that doing so would cost lives and worse hospital overcrowding. He kept this disastrous policy in place for six devastating weeks and then steadfastly refused to disclose the real number of long-term care resident deaths in the state, hiding behind a ‘place of death’ number that was a fraction of the real number and inconsistent with reporting from every other state,” said Kerpen.
Cuomo keeps saying he only lied about WHERE people died. But he also still refuses to include probable deaths in the count — and New York has a lot of them, because testing was scarce early.

“He stonewalled every attempt at oversight and accountability. The victims of his disastrous policy deserve better,” Kerpen added.
Another committee co-founder, economist Stephen Moore, said, “The crime of Cuomo’s incompetence with COVID and nursing homes cost thousands of New York senior citizens their lives. Now that we have learned of a deadly cover-up, it is time for Gov. Cuomo to go.”
In addition to the video, part of a $15,000 online buy, the group has put up a website dedicated to covering Cuomo’s virus scandal, “Cuomo Cover Up.”
Earlier this month, a top aide said that the governor’s administration didn’t reveal the full tally of nursing home deaths out of fear it would be used by prosecutors against it.
Cuomo’s handling of the scandal is now being investigated by the FBI.
Kerpen was one of the first to uncover the problems with New York’s numbers and has been posting his findings on Twitter.
He told Secrets he knew something was irregular when he couldn’t get data from New York. “They were misreporting to obscure their failure to protect the vulnerable and to scare the low-risk public to justify lockdowns,” he told us today.
Fake fact checker repeats Cuomo’s excuse verbatim. Quite remarkable. https://t.co/459n1NHL0z
