By a 2-1 margin, likely voters said that including amnestylike provisions into budget or immigration bills for up to 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States would make the flow worse across the border.
BIDEN MULLS CUTTING DEALS WITH CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS
And in another warning to some centrist Republicans favorable to “Dreamers” who crossed the border at a young age, immigration is one of the top issues driving voters to the polls.
In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, voters 46%-23% said that granting amnesty would make the illegal immigration problem in the U.S. “worse.”
But the partisanship isn’t as extreme as it’s been. Yes, 71% of Republicans agree amnesty would make illegal immigration worse. But Democrats are more divided into 24% “worse” to 36% “better” and 38% “not much difference.”
KEEP UP TO DATE ON THE BUZZ IN WASHINGTON SECRETS
Overall, voters by a 49%-13% margin believe illegal immigration continues to get worse in the U.S., and they blame President Joe Biden, who gets a 64% poor rating.
Meanwhile, a Harvard/Harris poll found that immigration was one of the key issues that drove voters to the polls last month and is likely to send them there in 2024. The poll also rated the issue the No. 3 concern in the country.
