Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley encouraged Republican senators to work quickly to confirm President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks for the next administration.
Rumors are swirling about whether Trump will call a recess for the Senate and appoint his own Cabinet as his picks become more controversial. Presidents have rarely wielded this authority. However, with a 53-seat majority in the Senate, the Republican Party has the power to nominate his entire Cabinet if they cooperate.
