Yes, the once-great defender of civil liberties is now woke-scolding people on Twitter who decline to violate every known rule of grammar by referring to individual people as “they” rather than he or she. It’s sad and bizarre and really stupid, too. What it is not is surprising: The ACLU has been declining for years now, abandoning its civil rights mission and sliding toward woke insanity at the expense of its principles.
