White House press secretary Jen Psaki has decided to attack Republicans for not offering solutions to the crisis on the southern border. Apparently, she missed it when her boss rejected all of the policies put in place by the previous administration.
“For all of those Republicans who are standing at the border and giving speeches about how broken the system is, why don’t you join us and be a part of the solution instead of relying on speeches?” Psaki said.
Yes, why don’t Republicans simply join the Biden administration in smearing Border Patrol agents for a fabricated “whipping” scandal? That story was walked back by the El Paso Times, and the photographer who took the pictures said he never saw anybody whipped by Border Patrol. But Psaki, President Joe Biden, Vice President and “border czar” Kamala Harris, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas all jumped on board with the smears, and they have continued to insist that Border Patrol agents are the villains of the story.
The only solutions that this administration has offered at the border are eliminating the use of horses for Border Patrol agents in Del Rio, Texas, and sending Harris to Guatemala. In fact, it seemed that the administration had all but forgotten about the border until it seized on viral misinformation about migrants being “whipped.”
We know Biden and his administration aren’t interested in Republicans actually trying to be “part of the solution” because Biden immediately tossed out several solutions that were being pursued by Republicans and put in place by former President Donald Trump. The “Remain in Mexico” policy was obviously one such solution, the reversal of which even Mexican officials knew would encourage a surge at the U.S.-Mexico border.
But Biden ended that program. When a Texas judge ordered the policy to be reinstated, the Biden administration asked the Supreme Court to block it. The Supreme Court declined, and now Biden is slow-walking the reinstatement of the policy.
Biden also terminated border wall construction contracts. He tried to freeze deportations for 100 days, another policy the courts blocked. Biden is not interested in any solutions for the crisis at the border, where there have been more migrant encounters than any time in the last 21 years. It’s one his policies have directly led to.
Biden, as with all aspects of his presidency, is only interested in blaming others. In this case, it’s the border agents who did nothing wrong and were smeared by Democratic politicians and political operatives for the crime of riding horses. Psaki can snark about Republican speeches all she wants, but no one seriously believes this administration cares about securing the southern border. Obviously among those who don’t believe it are the hordes of migrants who are flocking to the border in hopes of illegally entering this country.
