Ezekiel Kelly, a 19-year-old black man, is accused of going on a shooting spree throughout Memphis on Wednesday. The vicious attacks were livestreamed on Facebook and left four people dead and three others wounded. At the time of these murders, Kelly had a lengthy criminal history. Questions remain on how he was able to get his guns. The fact that he was able to obtain them is just the latest example of why the logic behind Democrats’ gun control legislation is so flawed. The Memphis shooting incident fits the profile of most gun crimes — the kind that Democrats willingly ignore.
Despite Democrats’ incessant fear-mongering about guns, most of the people who use them for criminal activities are not members of the National Rifle Association or any legal gun owner. Studies have shown that criminals such as Ezekiel Kelly acquire their guns illegally most of the time. Yet, despite this well-known fact, Democrats do little, if anything, to stop it. Instead, their rhetoric and policies tend to target legal gun owners — the ones who aren’t committing crimes.
Look no further than the national Democratic response to Kelly’s murders. Randomly shooting seven people fits the profile of a mass shooting, yet not one prominent Democrat has done their typical “song and dance” about the evil of guns. As of this publication, there aren’t any plans for President Joe Biden to visit Memphis. People must take notice of this.
Why the lack of a response? Because Kelly is a black man, specifics of this tragedy do not align with left-wing political narratives. Simply put, Democrats cannot exploit this tragedy for political gain. Kelly isn’t a white man and isn’t a legal gun owner (according to most current reports). This incident doesn’t check any of their perpetual victimization boxes needed to manipulate voters.
But Democrats know where most gun violence in this country is occurring; it’s in Democratic-run cities such as Memphis.
Consider the statistics. Out of the top ten deadliest cities in the country, all of them are cities with Democratic mayors. The Left knows this but ignores it. Instead, they blame the mythical “boogeyman” of the NRA and legal gun owners.
So, the next time Biden and the Democrats make a spectacle to exploit a tragedy involving guns, know that it is all political theater. There are no real interests in solving gun crime in this country. It’s long past time voters take notice of their scam. Democrats only want to curse the darkness, not light any candles. There’s no political capital in it.
