Just so you understand the catastrophic nature of the border crisis that House Democrats think is a game, consider a Washington Post report that immigration officials are now using our own military to take care of the hundreds of thousands of migrants flooding the country.
The report on Wednesday cited Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar stating that the administration is planning to deal with the unending influx of foreigners not by stopping the flow, but by opening more shelters, including two on military bases.
Nearly all of the new migrants are minors, according to the report. That means personnel are tasked with consoling crying babies, changing diapers, and otherwise babysitting. Our military operation is becoming a daycare.
The facilities are meant to house up to 4,000 new illegal immigrants — all resources that could be used for American children in need.
Never mind, let’s deal with the people who show up out of nowhere, unaccounted for!
The Trump administration, with the help of Congress, is allowing our military to shoulder the burden of the immigration crisis. All the while, we’re inching closer to war with Iran. One more shove from national security adviser John Bolton and that’s it. We’ll then be devoting untold resources to yet another war. Then what are we supposed to do with the unabated stream of Central American children forced into our care and now tended to by our military?
House Democrats just passed a $4.5 billion funding measure that will do nothing to end this crisis. It does nothing more than provide more beds, healthcare, and legal services for the obscene numbers of people making their way to border, puddling into American neighborhoods and schools.
We can’t accommodate every foreigner in need, and the administration is acting like we can by sacrificing resources meant for our men and women in uniform.
Something has to give, and the options are limited to either us or them.
