Last week, New York state passed the most permissive abortion legislation in the country under the guise of protecting reproductive freedoms. Among other things, the new law allows for late-term abortion after the 24-week mark. The United States already joins only a handful of other countries, including North Korea and China, in allowing abortion to even occur after 20 weeks. What New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his allies claim as progress is nothing short of barbarism that is accepted by some of the worst human rights abusers in the world.
Despite this “win,” the abortion community still wants more. This is entirely unsurprising as their goal has never been to reduce the number of abortions. They care next to nothing about what’s best for the mother and certainly don’t concern themselves with the health of an unborn child. Pressuring women into making the choice to end a life is their singular mission.
Also on Tuesday, politicians in Wyoming approved a bill to be considered before the full state House of Representatives. The bill would require a commonsense waiting period for women considering an abortion.
Naturally, the folks over at NARAL, fresh off of celebrating the law in New York, took offense at the suggestion that women should be given time to think about something so serious.
Mandatory wait periods are flat-out insulting and imply that women aren’t capable of making healthcare decisions for themselves. https://t.co/K9DcWnR50G #WYLeg

In an effort to push back against the pro-life community, abortion proponents will often talk about how capable women are in every aspect of life. As usually happens, in their attempts to act as advocates for female independence, they reveal their true agenda. NARAL’s angry, automatic rejection of a waiting period is a perfect example.
If pregnancy is a serious medical decision and abortion is considered an actual part of healthcare, as pro-choice individuals claim, then why shouldn’t a woman pause before going through with it or not? Modern-day feminism preaches that women are just as competent as men. If so, then wouldn’t women possess the ability to decide against abortion, too? Why are women perceived as powerless if they choose life?
Members of the abortion industry insist that they truly support females in their pregnancies, unwanted or not. If this were the case, then the country’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, wouldn’t have a yearly total of 332,757 abortions compared to only 2,831 adoption referrals. The facts don’t support anything other than a desire to reach quotas and make money on the backs of the unborn dead. That is why waiting periods of only 48 hours are immediately dismissed.
America is a nation filled with too many who believe that abortion is freedom and unexpected motherhood is oppression. We can thank feminism and the sexual revolution for creating and spreading these lies. Choosing to carry a child to proper term is the best decision for all involved. Requiring that women take a step back to consider the consequences of abortion removes the pressure of a predatory industry that salivates at the thought of each new client.
Sadly, not all women who wait before having an abortion will change their mind in the interim. However, politicians and organizations that are quick to applaud abortion at nearly any stage should be just as willing to allow women time to decide against it. That is the very least they can do.
Life truly empowers, but you won’t hear the same from those claiming to care about women and their bodies.
