HOW: Because the CW’s “Gossip Girl” — which is targeted at young girls ages 12 to 17 — glamorizes deviant, dangerous behavior such as casual teen sex (including threesomes) and drug and alcohol use, the Parents Television Council is asking advertisers not to sponsor “90210” unless they’re allowed to preview it.
WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: PTC President Tim Winter says no reputable advertiser would risk a carefully cultivated brand name to buy blind ads on such “reprehensible content” in a show they’ve never seen.
