White teachers are permitted to be discriminated against in a Minneapolis school district, according to a new contract between Minneapolis’s public schools and teachers union. The contract stipulates that the district’s teachers who are not white will be prioritized in case of layoffs. Previously, such decisions were made based on seniority, but this new contract allows that procedure to be ignored.
“Starting with the Spring 2023 Budget Tie-Out Cycle, if excessing a teacher who is a member of a population underrepresented among licensed teachers in the site, the District shall excess the next least senior teacher, who is not a member of an underrepresented population,” the agreement read.
As the Washington Examiner previously reported, the “educators of color protections” section of the contract declares that if a teacher who is a racial minority is subject to excess, the district should replace a white teacher with the “next least” seniority, according to Alpha News.
Inexplicably, this agreement was allowed to be made in March between the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers and the district as part of the deal to end a two-week teacher strike. Apparently, racism against white people has been elevated to a bargaining tool for teacher unions.
This is what actual discrimination looks like. And it should be considered illegal. By all available evidence, it is determining employment in these situations based on an employee’s race, which violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This law states that discrimination is prohibited on the basis of “race, color, sex or national origin.” It also “forbade discrimination on the basis of sex, as well as race in hiring, promoting, and firing.”
It is always the people who claim they want to end racism who are the ones working to promote it today. The revelation of this contract should have everyone up in arms. It is insulting, offensive, and, most importantly, illegal. It makes no matter if these efforts were under the guise of rectifying “past discrimination.” It is absurd for any educated person to conclude that the best way to remedy past discrimination is by creating new discrimination.
If this contract targeted any other race the way it does white people, there would be national outrage accompanied by protests and riots. Racism is racism, and that includes people who are white. Just because the Left has indoctrinated generations of people to support a toxic political environment that permits discrimination against white people does not justify its existence. All racism is wrong. This should not be that hard a concept to figure out. People must resist this disgusting bigotry and not tolerate this discrimination.
