On Friday, Denver will end many of its vaccine and mask mandates, at least for adults. Predictably, children will remain forced to mask in schools, because, well, Denver rejects basic science.
People will no longer be required to wear masks or show proof of vaccination to enter businesses in Denver by the city. Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, who traveled to Texas for Thanksgiving in 2020 right after telling residents to avoid travel, told residents not to get too comfortable and that “this virus is something we’re still going to have to manage and learn to live with.”
Please note, the @CityofDenver‘s other public health order requiring masks in schools and childcare facilities, WILL remain in place for the time being. It’s important to keep our schools open and our children in class and do so safely.

Hancock’s idea of living with the virus is the permanent masking of children in schools. Hancock claims that mandatory masking for children is “important to keep our schools open and our children in class and do so safely.” Meanwhile, Denver School Board Vice President Tay Anderson mocked parents and children, saying that parents should just keep their children at home if they don’t want them to be masked for seven hours a day.
It’s simple if you don’t want your student to wear a mask in school,
KEEP THEM AT HOME. ??♂️— Denver School Board Vice President – Tay Anderson (@DirectorTay) February 2, 2022
To use a term that Democrats are familiar with, this makes Hancock, Anderson, and other Denver city officials are science-deniers.
There is no scientific basis for lifting mask mandates in any other area of life while keeping them in place for children. Children face far less risk than any age other group from COVID-19. According to the data, they are at less risk from COVID-19 than they are from the flu. Moreover, unvaccinated children are at less risk from COVID-19 than are most vaccinated adults.
The decision to mask children forcibly is not based on any data or science. It is exclusively a political decision — and one that is being made based only on irrational liberal panic about the virus.
Denver, like many other cities and school districts run by Democrats, is sacrificing the developmental years of children and their education for the convenience of anti-science zealots. As Anderson shows, they are even gloating about it.

Every single school or city official that is choosing to impose restrictions on children is both rejecting science and putting children last. They have no off-ramp for school restrictions, and they don’t want to discuss them. Their judgment is deeply flawed, and they belong nowhere near the decision-making process when it comes to schools.
