President Donald Trump’s return to office has had plenty of positive knock-on effects. That includes the University of California system becoming less racist.
Trump’s righteous crusade against the racism of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” is resonating throughout higher education. That now includes the UC system, which announced on Wednesday that it would no longer use “diversity statements” in its hiring process. These statements force prospective faculty members to explain how they would contribute to the university’s diversity, serving as an easy sorting mechanism to filter out which candidates don’t adhere to progressive orthodoxy through DEI buzzwords. The University of California, Santa Cruz explicitly told applicants that “initial screening of applications will be based” on these diversity statements.
