Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., on Thursday peppered Tom Frieden, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with questions about Ebola safety protocols and whether the Obama administration has discussed imposing a travel ban to infected countries.
Scalise’s questions went mostly unanswered.
The CDC director, for his part, said that he is fairly certain that safety protocols have been followed by health care professionals who have been treating the deadly virus at a hospital in Dallas.
But Frieden refuses to comment on the White House’s position on travel bans, stating repeatedly that he cannot speak for the Obama administration.
A visibly annoyed Scalise only ended his line of questioning when his time ran out at the House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing.
