Water is wet, and Oprah endorsed a Democrat in Pennsylvania

Former talk show host Oprah Winfrey created a buzz by endorsing a Democratic candidate for Senate in Pennsylvania. Winfrey is a longtime supporter of the Left, so such an endorsement shouldn’t shock anyone. It’s akin to reporting that “water is wet” or the “Earth is round.” It would only be a news story if Winfrey did not endorse a Democrat, not the other way around.

By now, nearly everyone is familiar with the candidates for Senate in Pennsylvania. The state’s lieutenant governor and violent criminal enthusiast, John Fetterman, is the Democratic candidate. Dr. Mehmet Oz, the former talk show host and cardiothoracic surgeon, is the Republican candidate. On Thursday, Oprah announced her endorsement of Fetterman.

SENATE DEBATE SHOW DR. OZ IS THE BETTER CHOICE FOR PA VOTERS

Oz was a frequent guest on Winfrey’s long-running daytime talk show. And he eventually started his program, The Dr. Oz Show, which was co-produced by Oprah’s production company, Harpo Productions. The message is simple: “If Oprah doesn’t even support Oz, a person she helped make famous, no one should.” The Left is trying to use this endorsement to help Fetterman get votes.

But this only made headlines because they wanted to weaponize it against Oz’s Senate candidacy. In reality, Oprah’s endorsement is a nothingburger. Perhaps it’s odd that Oprah would endorse Fetterman after he racially profiled an unarmed black man and pulled a gun on him after wrongly suspecting him of being a criminal. But Democrats only truly care about such things when they can use them to their political advantage, so, again, no one should be really surprised here.

Furthermore, just because Winfrey hired Oz and had a business relationship with him does not mean she would, or even should, support his political platform. It’s odd to think that she would. After all, do bosses, supervisors, or investors have the same political views as their subordinates or other people they hired? No, of course not. So why would anyone presume that Winfrey would be any different?

Business relationships are different from political endorsements. Oprah viewed Oz as an asset that could make her money. Regarding political ideologies, Oprah has always been a liberal Democrat. And when it comes to political agendas, Oprah wants the Left to dominate. Nothing has changed in that regard, and it’s why her endorsement of Fetterman is barely worth the mention.

Moreover, Oprah doesn’t have to suffer from Fetterman’s likely rubberstamping of President Joe Biden’s inflationary agenda. She’s not going to have to deal with criminals being released back into her community the day they are arrested after participating in violent crimes. She is not going to lose her job or lose sleep over high gas prices resulting from the Left’s radical environmentalism. And that is the main reason no one should pay any attention to whom Oprah Winfrey, or any affluent celebrity, endorses.
