Budget deal sails through Senate

With token resistence from the right and left, the Senate voted overwhelmingly to pass the budget deal to fund the government for the remainder of the year, 81 to 19.

The measure was opposed by 15 Republicans, three Democrats and the technically independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
