Gov. Chris Christie, R-NJ, denied that former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass., bought his endorsement, just before Romney acknowledged the possibility of a Romney-Christie ticket in the general election.
Christie said that “[Romney] didn’t promise me anything” in exchange for his endorsement, announced this afternoon. Romney then added, “Of course [Christie] would be on anyone’s short-list.” Romney called Christie “one of the leading figures in the Republican Party” and praised him for his economic and budgetary policies in New Jersey. “That’s what America needs,” Romney said.
