Freddie Mac-down: Romney schools Newt on lobbying

Newt Gingrich explained that as a citizen, he never lobbied and in fact hired lawyers to make sure that he did not cross the line into lobbying.

Romney latched on Gingrich’s past comments, that he was only paid to be a historian for Freddie Mac.

Gingrich was defensive of his work for Freddie Mac, suggesting that Government sponsored entities were actually good for the country.

Romney refocused the debate on Freddie Mac, a GSE that actually hurt the housing market, and hurt people in Florida.

Gingrich actually had a bit of a brain freeze moment, appearing unable to answer Romney’s accusation, instead reaching for an argument about Mitt’s record of attacking fellow candidates.
