Statements keep coming in from liberals astonished at the decision to award Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize. Here are some more, to add to those in my previous blogpost.
● Michael Tomasky in the Guardian (“this is so out of nowhere that it could almost be embarrassing to the White House”).
● Joe Klein of Time (“premature to the point of ridiculousness”).
● David Ignatius of the Washington Post (“so goofy—even if you’re a fan, you have to admit that he hasn’t really done much yet as a peacemaker”).
● Barack Obama (“to be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who’ve been honored by this prize”).
I haven’t seen any reaction yet from Hillary or Bill Clinton.
