Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee today scrambled to explain away a controversial cell phone conversation during a recent town hall meeting. She suggested that the video showing her talking on her phone, while being asked a question, might have been a fake.
“Maybe it’s a doctored video,” she told CNN’s Rick Sanchez today, referring to the YouTube clip of the town hall meeting. The video, which went viral after Jackson-Lee’s Tuesday town hall meeting, shows the congresswoman all but waving off constituents as she converses with someone on her cell phone.
Sanchez tried to draw an apology out of Jackson-Lee today, growing frustrated at times and insisting that “you’re completely ignoring my question,” but she insisted that her conversation “was not disrespectful” and refused to apologize.
