Everyone knows that different television networks cater to different political audiences, but an exchange between MSNBC’s Ed Schultz and Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, concluded with a stark acknowledgement of partisanship in the media.
“Great work in Ohio, Congressman,” Schultz said after Ryan discussed his 2012 expectations for the union coalition that repealed Gov. John Kasich’s, R-Ohio, collective bargaining reform.
“Thank you,” Ryan replied. “And thank you on behalf of everybody in Ohio for all you did to help us,” he added.
Schultz responded to that gratitude by knocking Kasich and praising Democrats. “I cannot believe the political miscalculation that Kasich had with the workers of Ohio,” he said. “How could anyone be so disconnected? I mean, we hear it all over the country, the middle class is being decimated and the Democrats in your state get it,” he added. “They don’t [get it],” Schultz also said, referring to Republicans.
