Mayor Brandon Johnson has made Chicago less safe than it could be for no reason other than his fanatic obsession with race. His warped racial ideology views police responding to minority communities as racist, but minorities being shot and bleeding out on the streets as acceptable.
A girl was shot and killed in an alley in Chicago on Sunday. She lay bleeding in the alley for an undetermined amount of time because no one called 911 to report gunshots. Normally, no one would even have to: Chicago previously used a ShotSpotter system, a series of acoustic sensors placed in high-crime neighborhoods that alert police to shootings even if no one places a 911 call, to detect gunshots and help police locate shootings.

But Chicago no longer has that system, so 17-year-old Gabriella Arellano was left lying in an alley until police discovered her around 10:18 a.m. Chicago no longer has active ShotSpotter systems because Johnson decided that they were racist. Johnson thinks that ShotSpotter alerting police to gunfire leads to “overpolicing” in black and Hispanic communities.

So, gunshot victims such as Arellano are left to bleed out, with no opportunity to be saved by a ShotSpotter alert to law enforcement and paramedics. The same thing happened earlier this year when Eduardo Gamez’s car was shot up on a Tuesday night. Gamez’s car was parked and running for 2 1/2 hours; no one called 911, and no ShotSpotter alert was sent to the police. He bled out from a bullet hole in his abdomen for an undetermined amount of time. Chicago continues to rank among the least safe cities in the country, while nearby Aurora, Illinois, ranks among the safest. As it turns out, Aurora also just so happens to use the ShotSpotter system.
Johnson is too busy running around accusing everyone who doesn’t like him of wishing black people were slaves to care about this. Minorities in Chicago are being shot and left for dead with no opportunity for paramedics to save them because Johnson thinks it’s bad for police to be in minority communities. Johnson’s racial obsession gives him his own warped view of reality, where this is considered a positive outcome for minorities, when, in reality, it’s yet another way that he and Chicago Democrats have made people less safe for no reason other than to maintain their hatred of police and hold true to their toxic racial worldview.
