Alamo, Georgia, police officer Dylan Harrison just had his funeral. Harrison was ambushed outside the Alamo Police Department on Oct. 8. Although WGXA streamed the funeral service on Facebook, Harrison did not get a public funeral. Harrison will not be buried in a gold coffin.
Harrison, 26, is survived by his wife and their 6-month-old son, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. He was ambushed in retaliation for an arrest he had conducted earlier in the day. Harrison was murdered on his first shift on the job with the Alamo Police Department. Harrison’s death hasn’t received widespread media coverage. It hasn’t resulted in political statements besides Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s sympathy.
Harrison died while trying to make the community of Alamo a safer place. It cost him his life. Despite his heroism, despite Harrison’s ultimate sacrifice, there have not been any celebrities commenting or offering to pay for his funeral or supporting his wife and infant son. Floyd Mayweather did not pay for his funeral services.
Liberals, Democrats, and celebrities quickly canonized George Floyd as some kind of saintly hero when he died. His death was considered a symbol of sacrifice. In reality, it was not. Floyd was a career criminal who resisted arrest and was killed in police custody. Harrison was killed in an overt act of vengeance for doing his job to serve and protect. Floyd was treated like a hero and a martyr for black lives, laid to rest in a gold coffin. Harrison is being buried in relative anonymity.
Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi were among our country’s leaders who praised Floyd’s death as a heroic sacrifice. It was not, but Harrison’s death was. However, neither Biden, Harris, nor Pelosi will even know the name of Dylan Harrison. The hero gets nothing while the criminal gets treated like a hero.
