Our friends at the Washington Post have an interesting story this morning on the political ascent of Indian Americans. But there are two odd things about the story. Number one: the most prominent Indian American politician, Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, is only the sixth person mentioned in the article, and only parenthetically. (Space constraints?)

Second, the article omits any mention of D. S. Saund, a Democrat who was elected to Congress from the Imperial Valley/Riverside County district of California in 1956, 1958 and 1960. The article does mention an Indian American politician in Maryland as a pioneer, but he was first elected only in 1990—34 years after Saund was first elected to Congress.
