Disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff believes that former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who was convicted of extortion and trying to sell President Obama’s old Senate seat, received too harsh a sentence for his crimes.
“Having served in prison for a long time, I agree [that the 14 year prison term was ‘excessive’],” Abramoff said yesterday on Morning Joe. “My heart goes out to [Blagojevich] regardless of what he did. I can’t but feel pain for that because I’ve been through it.”
Abramoff noted that Blagojevich “wont even be able to go to a minimum security facility. He’ll have to go a low — to what they call a low — security facility, which includes all sorts of folks that he won’t want to meet.”
