President Obama rallied House Democrats today, reiterating the main points of his official addresses and campaign addresses — especially the need for fairness — as he asked them to help “change the country.”
“Thank you, Democratic Caucus, for all the great work that you do! Let’s go out there and change the country!” Obama said at the end of his speech at the House Democratic Retreat in Maryland. “I believe in you guys; you guys have had my back through some very tough times. I’m going to have your back as well, and together, we’re going to move this country forward,” the president promised.
“We all have to focus on what our responsibilities are . . . but we also have to understand that we’re always more successful when we do it together,” Obama also said. “That is at the core, I believe, not only of what it means to be a Democrat, but I also think that’s at the core of what it means to be an American.”
