Arkansas: disappointing numbers for both candidates

The first numbers from Arkansas show Senator Blanche Lincoln leading her challenger, Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter, 49%-38%, with an unaccountable 12% for a third candidate. They’re from one precinct in Saline County, exurban territory southwest of Little Rock. I would think these numbers are disappointing for both major candidates: Lincoln is under 50% and Halter is not carrying an area where, as lieutenant governor, he might have been getting more coverage over the last three years than in many of the more remote areas of the state. There’s a runoff if no one gets 50%.
