Critics are claiming it is “woke” after the casting of Zegler in the role because of her Colombian heritage. However, this is the wrong hill to die on, and nothing about her casting should be deemed “woke” or politically correct. While half Colombian, Zegler is also half Polish — a living embodiment of the northern European roots of the Snow White character. Objectively, she’s a great choice, and anyone criticizing the casting is foolish.

Rachel ZeglerBut then came Zegler’s comments about being a Latina princess.

SNOW WHITE DITCHES HER DWARVES

“People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White, where it’s like, yeah, it is, because it needed that,” Zegler said in an interview with Vanity Fair. Unfortunately, Zegler continued with her radical leftist ideological onslaught in another interview with Variety. Here, she championed the idea that Snow White was going to be a Latina princess.

“At the end of the day, I have a job to do that I’m really excited to do. I get to be a Latina princess,” Zegler said.

Except, no, she is not. Zegler might be Latina, and she might be of Colombian heritage, but the character is named “Snow White,” not “Blanca Nieves.” Furthermore, “Snow White” is a German fairy tale created in 1812 by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. There’s nothing Latina about Snow White.

To make matters worse, Zegler doubled down on her ignorance, insinuating a significant change in the character’s arc in the upcoming remake. Her comments are indicative of the frustration and resentment logical and rational people feel about contemporary left-wing indoctrination in movies and entertainment.

“It’s an 85-year-old cartoon, and our version is a refreshing story about a young woman who has a function beyond ‘Someday My Prince Will Come,'” she added.

Give me a break with this nonsense. What does Zegler even mean by this anyway? One can only imagine the direction the new Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will go after reading her comments.

Will Snow White be a career woman living in the country, whining about the patriarchy of her seven male oppressors? Or, instead of offering sage wisdom, is dwarf “Doc” going to be accused of constantly “mansplaining”? Will “Grumpy” be a racist, misogynist, MAGA Republican? Is “Sleepy” going to be hooked on opioids? Will Zegler’s “Snow White” file a #MeToo complaint after the prince kisses her while sleeping and without her consent? Will the queen, jealous of Snow White’s beauty, start an “Evil Queens’ Beauty Matters” movement?

No one wants Snow White to be updated to a ridiculous, “woke,” radical leftist version. All anyone wants from this film is a live-action remake, with some of today’s actresses and actors, with the same plot as the beloved 1937 animated film.

No one should have a problem with Zegler’s casting as the titular character. Everyone should object to incorporating left-wing propaganda into any new version of the film. Create new characters and stories if that is the objective. Leave the classics alone.
