Nancy Pelosi in Jordan, Paul Ryan travels to address Czech Parliament

House Speaker Paul Ryan is in Prague and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is in Jordan.

The House leaders are taking part in two of several congressional delegations abroad, or CODELs, that typically take place when Congress is not in session for a week or more.

Ryan, R-Wis., is on a two-day visit to the Czech Republic and will Tuesday become the first American leader to ever address the country’s parliament.

The visit commemorates the 100th anniversary of formal U.S.-Czech ties.

Ryan will meet with Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Radek Vondráček, and

U.S. Ambassador Stephen B. King.

Pelosi, D-Calif., is on a CODEL visit to the Middle East.

The delegation met Sunday with King Abdullah II and Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi to discuss regional security and diplomacy.

“Our delegation was grateful for the warm hospitality of King Abdullah II who hosted us for a working lunch and a thoughtful exchange of views on critical regional and economic security, and cooperation issues,” Pelosi said.

Lawmakers generally do not disclose future CODEL stops for security reasons. There are likely to be other stops for the Pelosi and Ryan delegations.
