Judge blocks provision defunding Planned Parenthood in GOP megabill

A federal judge granted a temporary restraining order preventing the Trump administration from cutting funding from Planned Parenthood on Monday after the organization filed a lawsuit against a measure in the GOP megabill defunding it.

The temporary restraining order, issued by Judge Indira Talwani, stops the government from implementing the funding cuts included in the newly enacted One Big Beautiful Bill Act and says it must continue to provide Medicaid funds to the organizations without interruption. The order lasts 14 days unless the court decides to extend, modify, or cancel it earlier.

This follows a suit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts by Planned Parenthood. The organization claimed that the provision is unconstitutional as it singles out the organization for cuts, according to a press release.
