Congressman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., asked Jonathan Gruber if he was stupid for his comments he made about the Affordable Care Act.
Gruber, the so-called Obamacare architect apologized during a House hearing Tuesday for calling voters stupid. His comments surfaced in a series of videos in recent weeks and have landed him in hot water with members of both parties on Capitol Hill.
Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., argued that Gruber’s comments will hurt Democrats and those trying to push the law forward, but criticized both Issa and Republicans for turning Tuesday’s hearing into political theater.
